Memorial Day
I wake up today, not in a rush to get the kids ready for school or ready for any appointments. No rush to get myself ready for work. I’m just enjoying a cup of coffee while half our family sleeps, and I’m awake watching Monsters Inc. for the millionth time with my youngest.
Today marks the unofficial start of summer. Amusement and water parks begin to open. School is out, or about to be. And a lot of people, including myself, are off work today, enjoying a three-day weekend. If you’re like us, you may be planning to a cookout and making some burgers on the grill.
But we can’t forget the real reason we are off today. The reason we can go about our days choosing what we’re going to do with it. Today is a day to honor those who have served our country and who have made the highest sacrifice. On this day, we remember those who have died, and those who live, who selflessly risked their lives to protect you and me. . We were grateful to get the opportunity this year to take our gratitude a step further. Ian helped place flags at the gravesites of fallen soldiers at our local cemetery.
Whatever you are doing today, take a moment to remember our fallen heroes. Take a moment to thank those who are or who have served our country.
To all who have served, continue to serve, and those who lost their lives, thank you for your service.
